A nickel-plated 3/16" steel rim under an 11" frosted head supplies the bright, immediate snap, and the 3-ply poplar and mahogany resonator pushes that sound forward so it carries across a room or a jam circle.

It tunes E, A, D, G, B, E, so every chord shape and flatpicking run you already know transfers straight over. Chords come out with that unmistakable banjo edge, but the two bass strings fill in the bottom end, so it sounds fuller and rounder than a standard 5-string. The slender D neck, 1 3/4" nut width and radiused ebony fingerboard feel like home to a guitar player, and the guitar-style tuners keep tuning familiar for country rhythm, bluegrass backup or singer-songwriter strumming.

Deering dresses the Boston in a brown mahogany satin stain with seed and vine maple and pearloid inlays, a butterfly 24-piece flange and nickel hardware throughout. A factory-installed Kavanjo pickup sits under the head and plugs in with a standard guitar cable, giving you a clean, feedback-resistant amplified banjo tone through an acoustic amp or a PA. It ships in a hardshell case. For guitar players who want real banjo tone on stage without relearning a single chord shape, the Boston 6-String Acoustic/Electric is the most direct route there.

Serial #BH18 — this listing is for the exact instrument shown in the photos above.

SPECS
Model: B-6AE
Banjo Style: Resonator
String Count: 6
String Type: Steel
Neck Wood: Quartersawn Mahogany or Maple
Neck Profile: Slender "D" Shape
Neck Finish: Satin
Fingerboard Material: Radiused A Grade Ebony
Fingerboard Inlay: Seed and Vine Maple and Pearloid
Number of Frets: 22
Fret Material: Nickel Silver
Nut Material: Ebony
Nut Width: 1 3/4"
Scale Length: 26 1/4"
Tuners: Guitar Style Tuners
Rim: Nickel Plated 3/16" Steel Rim
Rim Diameter: 11"
Head Material: Frosted
Tension Hoop: Beveled Tension Hoop
Hooks & Nuts: 24 Flat J-Hooks and 9/32" Hex Nuts
Flange: Butterfly 24 Piece Flange & Shoe
Armrest: Deering Armrest
Bridge: 5/8" Deering Radiused Smile Bridge
Tailpiece: Deering 6-String Tailpiece
Hardware Color: Nickel
Resonator Wood: 3-Ply Poplar/Poplar/Mahogany or Maple
Resonator Diameter: 13 7/8"
Finish Type: Satin
Color/Appearance: Brown Mahogany
Pickup Type/Electronics: Kavanjo Pickup (Factory Installed)
Strings Included: Deering Six String Strings
Case / Gig Bag: Hardshell Case
Left-/Right-Handed: Right-Handed

Why Choose The Acoustic Shoppe?
When you choose to purchase from us, you're not just making a transaction; you're investing in an exceptional experience.
