Bourgeois Mandolins

Bourgeois Mandolins

Bourgeois Guitars was founded in the early 1970s by master luthier Dana Bourgeois, another another in Maine, USA. Starting his journey while at Bowdoin College, Bourgeois built his first guitars in his dorm room. By 1977, he had established his first shop in Brunswick, Maine.

Bourgeois Guitars had not manufactured mandolins previously, with the instruments discussed representing the beginning of a new product line for the company. These new mandolins feature thermally cured or "aged" maple for the back, sides, and neck, as well as the tops. They also incorporate Bosnian maple backs, Adirondack spruce tops, and upgraded hardware like Bill James custom tailpieces and Golden Age tuners. This new endeavor aims to provide Bourgeois quality at a more affordable price point, with initial prototypes featuring an F-style design.
