Atkin Guitars

Founded in 1995 by Alister Atkin, Atkin Guitars emerged from his passion for taking instruments apart and a desire to build steel-string acoustics inspired by pre-war Martin and Gibson models. Initially working from Andy Crockett's workshop after leaving the London School of Furniture, Atkin focused on hand-built, vintage-inspired instruments with an emphasis on the songwriter's needs and the celebrated sounds of the past. This dedication to traditional building methods laid the groundwork for Atkin to become a premier UK brand known for its feel and tone. The story of Atkin Guitars is one of constant dedication to building the best possible instrument. What do we mean by “best”? While other high-end guitar makers seem obsessed with turning out “perfect” guitars – exhibition pieces so immaculate they no longer feel man-made – we’re interested in  more important qualities. Our aim is always to create an instrument with more feel, more personality and more spark. We want our guitars to bring the player something exciting and unexpected, something that will inspire them to make great music.
