Why the Eastman MD315 Mandolin is a Modern Classic

When it comes to the Eastman MD315, the secret lies in the construction. Unlike many entry-level F-style mandolins that use pressed woods, the MD315 features a hand-carved, hand-voiced solid Spruce top and hand-carved solid Maple back and sides.

Technical Specifications & Tone

  • Finish: The satin finish is thinner than traditional high-gloss coats, allowing the wood to vibrate more freely for a more "open" sound from day one.
  • Hardware: Quality chrome hardware and a fitted ebony bridge ensure stable intonation and excellent energy transfer to the top.
  • Body Style: The classic F-style scroll provides that iconic aesthetic while contributing to a focused, punchy midrange.

Is the MD315 the Best Value?

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Eastman MD315 made of solid wood?
Yes! The Eastman MD315 features a hand-carved solid Spruce top and hand-carved solid Maple back and sides. This is why it offers superior tone compared to laminate alternatives.
What is the benefit of the satin finish on the MD315?
The satin nitrocellulose finish is thinner than a heavy gloss, allowing the wood to vibrate more freely, resulting in a more resonant and woody tone right away.
Does it come with a case?
Yes, the Eastman MD315 typically includes a quality padded gig bag, and at The Acoustic Shoppe, we ensure it's packed securely for safe arrival.
What is the 23-Point Professional Setup?
