Established in 1970 by Bill Sullivan, the company began as First Quality Banjo, operating from the Sullivan family's home in Louisville, Kentucky. The mission was to supply high-quality banjo parts and accessories to builders and players. Over the years, the business expanded, relocating to a larger facility and evolving into First Quality Music, offering a wide range of musical instruments and accessories.

Transition to Sullivan Banjo Co.

In 2019, marking its 50th anniversary, the company rebranded as Sullivan Banjo Co. and relocated to Silverhill, Alabama. This transition aimed to refocus on their banjo-making roots and provide a dedicated space for crafting high-quality instruments.
