On top of that shape sits a solid Sitka spruce top over Big Leaf Maple back and sides, the tonewood pairing that defines the entire 600 Series. Sitka spruce is the most common top wood in steel-string building for good reason — a wide dynamic range and a fast, articulate attack that responds honestly to however hard or soft you play it, without coloring the tone the way a softer top wood like cedar can.
