Indian rosewood earns its reputation for a reason. Where mahogany — the wood on every other Gold Label model — delivers a dry, punchy, midrange-forward voice built for cutting through a mix, rosewood adds harmonic complexity and overtone-rich sustain: a fuller, more layered low end, a full and almost piano-like bass response, and ringing highs that bloom instead of cutting off short. On a body shape already built for volume and low-end authority, that combination gives the 710e a bigger, more three-dimensional voice than its Gold Label siblings, without losing the note separation a dreadnought needs to stay clean under aggressive strumming.
Taylor's Fanned V-Class bracing, refined here with the Tonal Rout construction used across the Gold Label line, is doing real work underneath that top. The fanned pattern improves sustain and tightens pitch stability up the neck, letting the top move more freely without sacrificing structural strength. The Tonal Rout frees up the top's response further still, unlocking more volume and more overtone content without letting the fundamental note lose focus or turn boomy. Paired with rosewood's natural complexity, the result is a dreadnought that stays articulate at volume instead of turning muddy, with noticeably more sustain and headroom than the scalloped-brace dreadnoughts that built the shape's reputation.
Playability stays consistent with the rest of the Gold Label lineup. The Standard Carve neck, cut to a 1-3/4-inch nut width and 25-1/2-inch scale length, is full enough to anchor confident open-chord work and fast enough to stay out of the way on lead lines up the neck. An L.R. Baggs Element VTC pickup system carries that same acoustic voice to the board or the PA rather than coloring it, with onboard volume, tone, and a built-in tuner mounted on the guitar's side for stage-ready control.
Finished in Natural to let the rosewood and spruce show their own grain and color, the 710e ships in a British Cocoa Bronco Taylor Deluxe hard shell case. Every 710e that leaves our shop carries the Dread-Not Guarantee — a 30-day in-home trial and a full year to trade it in for 90% credit toward anything else in the store, standard on every Taylor over $1,000 that we sell — and completes our 23-Point Professional Inspection plus a free humidity monitoring kit before it ships.
