What is Stage Ready?
A Stage Ready instrument is one that earned our attention for the right reasons — and our honesty when we found something cosmetic. Every Stage Ready piece has been through a professional inspection by our in-house certified repair technician and received the same 23-point setup we perform on every instrument we sell. The only difference: a purely visual imperfection we found and disclosed, and a price that reflects it.
These instruments may have spent time on our showroom floor — played by customers, touched by hands, lived a little life. They may have arrived with a minor shipping blemish. Or in some cases, a customer returned an instrument that came back with cosmetic damage. Rather than quietly resell it at full price, we document what happened, designate it Stage Ready, and pass the savings to you.
What counts as cosmetic?
Finish scratches
Light surface marks from handling or display
Orange peel texture
Minor factory finish inconsistency in the lacquer
Headstock dings
Small nicks where the headstock met a wall or case
Finish checking
Hairline finish crazing — cosmetic only, not structural
Anything structural — bridge lift, cracks, truss rod issues — is rejected outright and returned to the manufacturer. It will never be sold in our shop.

Photos and written description of every flaw

Certified repair tech inspection + professional setup
Every Stage Ready instrument is inspected and set up by our repair team — playability and tone held to the same standard as anything we sell new.
Full manufacturer's warranty — intact
Stage Ready instruments are still sold as new. The manufacturer warranty applies in full.
Dread-Not Guarantee on purchases $1,000 and above
30-day home trial, 1-year 90% trade-in, humidity tracker — all of it. Under $1,000? Our standard 14-day return policy applies.
Skip the worry. Get straight to music.
The best guitars don't stay perfect. The moment you take one on stage, load it in a van, or lean it against an amp, it becomes yours. A Stage Ready instrument has already taken that first step. The cosmetic detail is there — photographed, described, and priced into what you pay — so you can stop protecting a finish and start playing.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as used or pre-owned?
No. Stage Ready instruments are sold as new — they carry a full manufacturer's warranty. The designation only means we found a cosmetic imperfection and we're being transparent about it.
How is this different from Sweetwater's Certified Open Box?
Similar concept, different standard. Sweetwater's program covers demo gear and customer returns. Ours is narrower: Stage Ready is reserved for instruments with purely cosmetic flaws — nothing that affects playability or tone. Every piece is evaluated by our own certified repair tech, not just tested and reshelved.
Will I be able to see the flaw before I buy?
Yes. Every listing includes photos of the actual imperfection as clearly as we can capture it, plus a written description. We will not hide what we found.
What if I receive it and the flaw looks worse than described?
Our standard return policy applies. The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs — both to you and back to us.
Does the Dread-Not Guarantee apply?
Yes — for Stage Ready purchases at or above $1,000. That means the 30-day home trial, 1-year 90% trade-in, humidity tracker, and professional setup are all included. Purchases under $1,000 follow our standard 14-day return policy.
Can a returned instrument become Stage Ready?
Yes. If a customer returns an instrument that comes back with cosmetic damage, we inspect it, document and photograph what happened, price it accordingly, and list it as Stage Ready — rather than quietly selling it at full price.
What would disqualify an instrument from Stage Ready?
Anything structural. Bridge lift, top cracks, neck joint issues, truss rod problems — instruments with these are returned to the manufacturer. They do not get a Stage Ready designation and will not appear in our inventory.
