This 2002 Taylor 614ce pairs a solid Sitka spruce top with strikingly quilted Big Leaf maple back and sides, a tonewood pairing prized for its transparent, player-reflective voice. In Excellent Condition: this 614ce has a ding on the top below the bridge on the right side, and there are some small dents under the left side of the bridge. There is one ding on the left side of the sound hole. On the back there is a small amount of finish checking on the lower right bout as well as a finish blemish on that side and one on the left side as well. Maple's sonic clarity means the guitar picks up more of what the player puts into it than a darker tonewood like mahogany or rosewood would, making it responsive to a light touch and articulate under a harder strum alike.

The Grand Auditorium body and forward-shifted X-bracing — the standard Taylor design before V-Class bracing arrived years later — keep the mids focused and the top end from getting brittle, while the Venetian cutaway opens up the upper frets for lead playing. A Fishman Prefix Stereo Blender system mounted on the bass side blends an internal condenser mic with an under-saddle pickup, giving the player independent control over both tone sources rather than a single fixed voicing.

Cream binding, mother-of-pearl leaf inlays, and gold Grover tuners with ebony-style buttons dress up the quilted maple in classic early-2000s Taylor styling, while a bone nut and saddle keep the tone clear and well-defined at both ends of the neck. For a player who wants a bright, articulate maple voice with genuine plug-and-play flexibility rather than a single-source pickup, this 614ce delivers exactly that.
