This 2024 Martin Custom Shop slope shoulder dreadnought is a unique all-walnut build created for NAMM 2024 through a collaboration between Alamo Music and Martin’s own Colin Besancon. In Excellent condition with minimal play wear, this guitar features highly figured walnut for the top, back, and sides, offering a distinctive tonal character that sets it apart from more traditional spruce and rosewood combinations. The slope shoulder body shape adds warmth and roundness to the voice, creating a balanced and inviting sound with a smooth low end and clear, focused mids.

Walnut brings a dry, woody response with strong note separation and controlled overtones, making it a versatile choice for both strumming and fingerstyle playing. Paired with forward-shifted Golden Era scalloped bracing, the guitar feels responsive and open, allowing the top to move freely and produce a lively, dynamic tone. The result is a guitar that feels immediate and expressive without becoming overly complex or muddy.

Built with the level of detail expected from Martin’s Custom Shop, this instrument features premium appointments including an ebony fingerboard and bridge, Waverly open gear tuners, and a full gloss finish that highlights the striking figure of the walnut. Its origin as a NAMM collaboration piece adds an extra layer of uniqueness, making it an appealing option for players and collectors alike who are looking for something outside the traditional tonewood palette.
