Description

The Bourgeois Professional Series Country Boy Dreadnought pairs a solid Sitka spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides for the warm, punchy voice that made the Country Boy a bluegrass and roots favorite. Bourgeois finishes it in a thin satin that lets the woods move freely, so the guitar sounds open and responsive from the first strum and keeps opening up as it is played.

Driven hard with a flatpick, it has the power and low-end push you want from a dreadnought, with the mahogany keeping the midrange focused so bluegrass runs and rhythm chop stay clear in a jam. Played lighter, the Sitka top stays articulate and balanced, which makes it just as comfortable behind a vocal. The 25.5" scale adds projection and sustain, and the 1 23/32" nut with 2.2" bridge spacing gives it a familiar, traditional feel.

Tortoise binding with a black and maple top border, a wood ring rosette, a square headstock with diamond volute and ziricote veneer, and a mother-of-pearl Bourgeois logo keep the look classic. An ebony fingerboard with vintage-style pearl dots, a traditional ebony bridge with ebony pins, Schaller Vintage Bean tuners and a celluloid tortoise pickguard round it out, with the Dana Bourgeois signature label inside and a hardshell case included. For players who want a working Bourgeois dreadnought that holds up in a jam, on stage or in the studio, the Country Boy delivers.
