This Bourgeois Slope Shoulder Dreadnought is a Sawmill Limited Banjo Killer, built from tonewoods out of Bourgeois's own Broad Arrow sawmill. It pairs a bearclaw figured Sitka spruce top with light figured mahogany, and the bracing is Bourgeois's double scalloped Banjo Killer pattern. That bracing is what the name is about: it lets the top move freely for the volume, punch and quick response a flatpicker needs to stand up to a banjo in a bluegrass jam.

The 25.5 inch long scale adds string tension and headroom when you dig in, and the nut is 1 23/32 inches with 2.2 inch string spacing at the bridge. The fretboard and belly bridge are Madagascar rosewood, with tiny mother-of-pearl dots on the fretboard and ebony bridge pins with pearl dots. Waverly nickel tuners with ivoroid buttons sit on the Bourgeois snake headstock. The neck has a satin finish for a fast feel, and there is no pickup.

Ivoroid body binding with a Banjo Killer top border carried around the back and sides, a wood ring rosette, a DB backstrip with a black line and a body wood endpiece inlay give it a classic look. The headstock has a Madagascar rosewood veneer with a mother-of-pearl Bourgeois logo, and a celluloid tortoise pickguard sits under the natural high gloss top. The Dana Bourgeois signature label is inside.
