Deering Eagle II 5-String Resonator Banjo w/Spikes Installed #2327

The Deering Eagle II 5-String Resonator Banjo builds its voice around Deering's patented Twenty-Ten tone ring seated on a 3-ply violin-grade maple rim. That pairing gives it a rich, punchy midrange with clear note separation, and the maple resonator adds depth and volume so the banjo projects without turning harsh.

Rolls come out even and crisp, with enough bark in the midrange to cut through a bluegrass jam and enough bass and treble balance to sit nicely under a vocal or in a band mix. The quartersawn maple neck has a slender D shape that feels fast up and down the A-grade ebony fingerboard, and the 1 1/4" nut width keeps Scruggs-style picking and melodic runs comfortable. It also has the warmth to handle clawhammer when you want a softer touch.

The custom dark "Eagle Red" stain and high-gloss finish on the neck and resonator, the original engraved Eagle inlays and the nickel hardware give it a look that matches its tone. Deering planetary tuners and a Gotoh geared 5th-string tuner hold pitch through a set, and it ships in a hardshell case. This Eagle II also has spikes installed at frets 7, 8, 9 and 10, so you can capo the 5th string in a second without a sliding capo in the way. For players stepping up to a professional resonator banjo that handles stage, studio and front-porch picking equally well, the Eagle II earns its place.

Serial #2327 — this listing is for the exact instrument shown in the photos above.
