Thermo-curing accelerates the top's aging process, giving the Adirondack spruce a darker, more overtone-rich voice than an untreated top, while the mahogany back and sides push the strong, woody midrange dreadnought players rely on for rhythm work.

It has the low-end push and volume flatpickers want for driving bluegrass rhythm and leads, with the thermo-cured top adding a touch of complexity and sustain that a fresh spruce top doesn't have yet. Hand-carved scalloped X bracing lets the top move freely under a strong right hand, and the mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, carved in a traditional even C profile, keeps the grip comfortable through extended flatpicking sessions.
