Description

The Eastman EU1-T builds its entire body from solid mahogany: top, back, and sides all cut from the same tonewood family guitar players know for a warm, compressed midrange. On a tenor-scale instrument (16 15/16" scale length, an 8 9/16" body), that all-solid construction gives the uke more low-end push and sustain than you'll find on a laminate tenor, while staying light enough to play for hours without neck fatigue.

Where a spruce-top uke can sound bright and glassy, all-mahogany construction rounds off the top end and pushes more energy into the mids, similar to what mahogany does on a dreadnought guitar, but scaled down and more intimate. Strummed chords come out warm and a little woody rather than jangly, and fingerstyle and campanella-style picking patterns ring clearly without the harshness some laminate ukes get under a hard right hand.

A rosewood fingerboard and bone-saddle rosewood bridge keep intonation solid across the neck, and tortoise binding around the top and back dresses up the mahogany without hiding it. Chrome hardware, black button tuners, and D'Addario Nyltech strings round out a setup that holds tune reliably, and a premium Eastman gig bag ships with every EU1-T. It's a strong step-up instrument for a player who has outgrown a beginner soprano and wants a tenor uke that sounds and feels like a real instrument, not an accessory.
