Description
The Eastman MD305 hand-carves a solid spruce top over solid maple back and sides in a traditional A-style, F-hole body, bringing carved-top construction to players who don't need the F-style's scroll and points. Spruce drives the top-end clarity and volume, while the solid maple back and sides add punch and focus that laminate A-styles can't match.
It has the projection and articulation to hold its own in a jam circle, with clean note separation for tremolo and enough chop for backing rhythm. The maple neck and 12" radius ebony fingerboard keep the fretting hand fast, and the satin finish gives the neck a quick, unsticky feel through long playing sessions.
Ivoroid binding and pearl dot inlays add a clean, traditional look, and the adjustable ebony bridge with nickel hardware keeps tuning stable as the strings break in. It ships with D'Addario XT Phosphor Bronze strings and a padded gig bag, a solid step up for players moving from a laminate mandolin into carved-top tone without the cost of an F-style.
