Description
The Eastman MD605-GB pairs a solid spruce top with solid maple back and sides in a traditional A-style body, vented through classic F-holes, and finished in a deep Goldburst gloss that highlights the maple's figure. Mandolin players who want traditional A-style tone with a factory-installed pickup get an instrument built equally for the front porch and the stage.
Spruce and maple together produce a focused, dry midrange bark and bright, bell-like trebles that sit at the front of a mix rather than blending into it. Notes decay quickly and compress under a hard pick attack, which suits cutting through a fiddle tune or driving rhythm with a tight chop chord in a bluegrass jam.
A maple neck carries an ebony fingerboard carved to a 12 inch radius across 23 Jescar frets, so fast runs and chop chords stay comfortable up the neck. A factory-installed K&K Duotone pickup carries that acoustic voice to a PA or amp without feedback trouble, and an adjustable compensated ebony bridge with a cast aluminum tailpiece keeps the setup easy to dial in.
