Description

The Eastman PCH1-D-CLA builds a full dreadnought body around a thermo-cured solid Sitka spruce top and laminated sapele back and sides, giving new players real solid-top tone at an entry-level price. Heat-treating the spruce top ahead of construction adds headroom that's usually reserved for pricier instruments, so the top responds openly from the first strum instead of sounding stiff and new.

Traditional X-bracing keeps the tone dry and midrange-focused rather than boomy, so strummed chords stay separated and clear instead of blurring together. It handles flatpicked bluegrass rhythm and simple lead lines equally well, and it holds up fine under a hard strumming hand without breaking up.

The Classic sunburst top wears an ultra-thin Truetone satin finish that lets the spruce grain show through, framed by black plastic binding and an abalone rosette around the soundhole. An okoume neck carved to a traditional even C profile pairs with a rosewood fingerboard and a 1 3/4 inch bone nut, giving enough spacing for clean fingerstyle work or fast flatpicking. Shipped in a padded Eastman gig bag, the PCH1-D-CLA gives a beginning flatpicker or strummer a dependable solid-top dreadnought without a steep price tag.
