Description
The Martin Custom Shop 000-14 Fret Black Walnut pairs a solid spruce top with black walnut back and sides, a wood combination Martin doesn't run in its standard catalog. It's a one-of-one factory exclusive built for the player who wants genuine Custom Shop craftsmanship in a compact, comfortable 000 body.
Black walnut sits tonally between mahogany and rosewood — it has rosewood's clarity without quite as much overtone complexity, giving this 000 a focused, articulate voice that stays clean under fingerstyle playing and still has enough low end to back a full strum. Scalloped spruce bracing keeps the top responsive, so the guitar opens up quickly rather than needing years to break in.
European flamed maple binding and an Old Style 18 rosette and fingerboard inlay dress it in classic Martin appointments, and Grover nickel vintage-button tuners keep it in tune reliably. It ships in a Martin 3-ply hardshell case with a domed top. For a player who wants a genuinely rare Martin tonewood pairing in a proven body size, this is a one-of-one opportunity.
