The Martin Custom Shop D-14 Fret Black Walnut brings the same rare tonewood pairing to a full dreadnought body, built as a one-of-one factory exclusive rather than a standard catalog run. It's for the player who wants dreadnought volume with a tonal signature Martin doesn't offer off the shelf.
Black walnut back and sides sit between mahogany and rosewood tonally, giving this dreadnought a clear, focused low end that doesn't turn boomy under a hard strum, while the solid spruce top and scalloped bracing keep the top responsive and quick to open up. It's built to reward flatpicking and rhythm playing equally.
