Description
The Martin 00-10E Retro Joe Bonamassa takes the look of Joe Bonamassa's pre-war 1937 00-18 and puts it on Martin's Road Series Retro platform. It has a solid spruce top in a satin 1937 Joe Bonamassa Sunburst, solid sapele back and sides, black binding and a faux tortoise pickguard. The paper label inside carries a pre-printed Joe Bonamassa signature.
Sapele behind a spruce top gives the 00 body a focused sound, and Martin describes it as warm in the bass, punchy in the midrange and clear in the treble. The bracing is scalloped spruce X at 5/16 inch. The select hardwood neck has a PA Profile with a high-performance taper and a satin finish. A 24.9 inch scale keeps string tension lower than a 25.4 inch Martin, and the 1 3/4 inch nut leaves your fretting hand room between strings.
The fingerboard and bridge are ebony, with Old Style 18 inlays in faux mother-of-pearl, a white TUSQ saddle and nickel open-gear tuners. Martin E1 electronics with a built-in tuner are on board, and a softshell case comes with it. We would point it at players who want the 1937 look with a pickup installed and a satin finish. Anyone who prefers gloss and a bone nut should look at the 00-18 Joe Bonamassa.
