Description
Martin Retro strings use Monel wrap wire, a nickel-copper alloy that Martin says resists corrosion naturally. Martin also says the alloy softens pick attack so the guitar's own tonewoods come through, and that the strings last longer and work well plugged in.
This is the Bluegrass set, sold as Tony Rice's Choice, .013 to .056 at 184.8 total tension. Next to the Medium set (MM13), the B, D and A strings are each a thousandth of an inch thinner (.016, .034 and .044), which takes about 6 points off the tension. We carry it for players who want a bluegrass set that stays close to Medium.
