The Taylor 117e introduces players to the Grand Pacific body, Taylor's round-shoulder take on the dreadnought that trades the sharper-shouldered traditional profile for a warmer, more vintage-leaning voice. A solid torrefied spruce top sits over layered sapele back and sides, braced with Taylor's C-Class pattern, and the torrefaction process pre-ages that spruce top so it responds with the open, seasoned character of a guitar that's already been played in.

That combination gives the 117e real low-end weight and a rounder attack than a standard Grand Auditorium — strummed chords bloom instead of snapping, and the sapele back and sides keep the midrange focused so the low end doesn't turn boomy under a heavy pick hand. It is a body built for rhythm players, singer-songwriters, and strummers who want a full, room-filling sound without stepping up to a full dreadnought's size and weight.
