Description
This is a deposit-only preorder for the next Taylor 714ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric we bring in — not a specific instrument currently in stock. The photos above are Taylor's own manufacturer photos of this model, not the exact guitar you will receive. Once your instrument arrives, our in-house tech completes the full 23-point inspection and Trent photographs your actual unit before it ships, and we'll confirm everything with you at that point.
The Taylor 714ce Next Generation pairs a Western Red Cedar top with solid Indian Rosewood back and sides, trading the punch and headroom of a spruce top for a softer attack and a rounder, more immediate voice. Cedar has a more compliant cell structure than spruce, so it responds fully at a lighter touch and reaches its tonal ceiling at lower playing volumes; Scalloped V-Class Bracing with Relief Rout channels that responsiveness into more sustain and cleaner intonation up the neck rather than looseness.
Cedar's softer attack gives up some of spruce's percussive snap in exchange for a note that blooms the instant a string is touched, with less pick-attack transient and more of the note's body up front. Paired with rosewood's deep low end and long, complex decay, the 714ce favors fingerstyle playing and dynamic strumming over hard flatpicking — a fingerpicked chord opens up and lingers rather than cutting off cleanly, giving arrangements a fuller, more layered sound. It suits a singer-songwriter working a quiet room more than a bluegrass picker chasing stage volume.
The Grand Auditorium body carries a Venetian cutaway, a West African Crelicam Ebony fingerboard and bridge with a Reflections inlay suite in green abalone, and a Taylor Claria pickup system with soundhole-mounted volume, Mid-Contour, and tone controls plus an under-saddle pickup for dependable amplified tone. It ships in a natural gloss finish with a Brown Taylor Deluxe Hard Shell Case. Every 714ce ships under our Dread-Not Guarantee — a 30-day in-home trial and a full year to trade it in for 90% credit toward anything else in the store, backed by a free humidity monitoring kit. For players building a fingerstyle or singer-songwriter rig around touch sensitivity and tonal complexity, the 714ce fills exactly that role.
