Description

Taylor designed the Gold Label 510e with Trey Hensley as a deep-bodied, square-shoulder dreadnought for flatpicking. A torrefied Sitka spruce top sits over solid neo-tropical mahogany back and sides. The mahogany keeps the low end dry and tight, so fast single-note runs stay clear next to a banjo and a fiddle.

Under the top, Taylor uses fanned V-Class bracing with what it calls a Tonal Rout, and says it dials up warmth and power. V-Class itself is Taylor's design for longer sustain and truer intonation up the neck than traditional X-bracing. The Standard Carve neck has a 1-3/4" TUSQ nut, a 15" radius and a 25-1/2" scale, which gives a flatpick room between the strings and enough tension to dig in on rhythm.

West African Crelicam ebony covers the fingerboard, its binding, the headstock veneer and the truss rod cover, with cream crest inlays, a cream and black rosette and an Antique Blonde gloss top. Taylor fitted it with LR Baggs Anthem SL electronics, Trey's preference, which blend an internal microphone with an under-saddle pickup. It ships in Taylor's hardshell case in British Cocoa, under our Dread-Not Guarantee: a full year to trade it in for up to 90% of the pre-tax purchase price in credit, less round-trip shipping, plus a 30-day in-home trial and a humidity kit. It suits a flatpicker who plays rhythm and lead in a bluegrass band.
