(Used) 1932 Vintage Gibson A-0 Oval-Hole Teardrop A-Style Mandolin #9204

Dating back to the legendary pre-war Kalamazoo era, this 1932 Gibson A-0 stands as an incredible example of the streamlined, worker-bee aesthetic that made Gibson a household name during the onset of the Golden Era. In Very Good Condition, especially considering it's age, this mandolin shows some play wear on the top and ribbon checking on the back with a small patch of buckle rash. There is a repaired crack on the lower bout, and during a refret in 2012 there was some damage to the original label, though there is a picture of the original undamaged label included with the mandolin. As the most utilitarian entry in the classic A-series lineup, the A-0 stripped away complex visual bindings and flashy purflings to deliver pure, unadulterated acoustic performance at an accessible level. This particular depression-era instrument has been thoughtfully updated to remain a dependable, daily performance tool for the modern player, benefiting from a high-quality replacement bone nut, a 2012 refret and an upgraded set of premium Waverly Golden Age tuning machines installed in 2015. This mandolin comes with a period case with orange lining.

The traditional teardrop body design centers around a hand-carved solid spruce top paired with solid birch back and sides, creating a highly focused, mature acoustic bark that only time can unlock.
