The Chapmans
A Family of Musicians in tune with the local and national music community
The Chapmans are an international touring bluegrass family band recording for Compass Records who have performed in every contiguous US state, as well as 9 countries over the last 26 years. Highlights have included performances on The Grand Ol' Opry, The Ryman Auditorium, Vienna, Austria, a Top 5 position ono the Billboard Bluegrass Album charts, and the #1 played CD on Sirius XM Bluegrass Junction. Over all this time we have developed expertise in the acoustic music scene, and now look to share what we've been able to experience with anyone looking to start their acoustic music journey, or those wanting to take it to the next level.

FAQ
Have questions? Give us a call!
Why should I buy from The Acoustic Shoppe?
Because we aren't just a store; we are a family of musicians. Owned by The Chapmans (a touring bluegrass family), we treat every instrument like it’s going on stage with us.
- We Inspect Everything: Unlike big-box retailers who ship unopened boxes, every instrument gets a 23-point inspection and professional setup before shipping.
- We Know Our Stuff: You can call and talk to a real player who can describe the tone difference between two specific guitars in stock.
- The Dread-Not Guarantee: We offer the best protection package in the industry for high-end instruments.
What is your return policy?
We want you to love your instrument, sale or no sale.
- Standard Policy (Under $1,000): You have a 14-day return window to make sure it's the right fit.
- The Dread-Not Guarantee (New & Over $1,000): You get a 30-day evaluation period to bond with the instrument in your own environment. If it’s not the one, you can return it. (See our full policy page for return shipping details).
Do you offer coupons or discounts?
As a family-owned small business, we focus on value rather than cutting corners to slash prices. We stick to the standard prices (MAP) set by our manufacturers, but we believe the service, security, and community we offer are worth far more than a small cash discount.
When you buy from us, your investment goes back into ensuring you get a perfect instrument. instead of a coupon, you get:
- Our Expertise: A 23-point professional setup so it plays perfectly (better than "box house" retailers).
- Our Protection: The Dread-Not Guarantee, including free 1-year trade-ins and a 30-day trial.
- Our Loyalty: You earn Shoppe Rewards points on every purchase to save on future gear.
Plus, we do offer financial flexibility:
- Financing: Up to 48 months through Synchrony and Affirm.
- No Sales Tax: For most orders shipped outside of Missouri.
What is the Dread-Not Guarantee?
This is our industry-leading promise for all new instruments over $1,000. It includes:
- 30-Day Trial Period: Play it in your home. If it's not "the one," return it.
- 1-Year Trade-In Guarantee: Trade it back within 12 months for 90% of your purchase price (mint condition) or 75% (excellent condition) toward an upgrade.
- Free Bluetooth Humidity Tracker: We install a sensor in your case so you can track humidity from your phone during shipping and at home.
- Custom String Setup: We call you before shipping to install your preferred string gauge and brand.
Will my instrument be ready to play right out of the box?
Absolutely. Every instrument we sell undergoes our 23-Point Professional Inspection & Setup before it leaves the shop. We inspect the nut height, saddle height, neck relief, and fretwork to ensure it plays perfectly.
- Dread-Not Bonus: If you bought a qualifying instrument (New & over $1,000), we will personally contact you to discuss your string preference and set the instrument up with a fresh set of your choice so it arrives customized to your playing style.
Are the photos on the website of the actual instrument I will receive?
For most of our serial-numbered instruments (guitars, mandolins, banjos), yes. We take high-resolution photos of the individual instrument so you can see the specific wood grain and details. If a listing is using a stock photo, it will be noted, but we pride ourselves on showing you exactly what you are buying.
Are you a Gibson or Collings dealer?
We are not an authorized dealer for new Gibson or Collings instruments. However, we often have used models in our inventory.
- Looking for that Gibson thump? Check out our Eastman or Boucher guitars, which many of our customers find to be incredible alternatives.
- Looking for Collings precision? We highly recommend exploring our Bourgeois or Boucher collections for comparable (and often superior) voicing and craftsmanship.
Do you ship overseas?
Yes, we ship all over the world. Shipping costs will apply, and will be added at checkout. We run discounts and promotions all year, so stay tuned for exclusive deals.
How long will it take to get my orders?
It depends on where you are. Orders processed here will take 5-7 business days to arrive. Overseas deliveries can take anywhere from 7-16 days. Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email.

Guitars For Vets
In June, your generosity helped us deliver the gift of music to our heroes, placing more than 40 guitars with veterans!
This momentum is vital as we continue to raise awareness and support for those impacted by PTSD.
Will you help us sustain this healing rhythm? We invite you to join our mission to bring the therapeutic power of music to our veterans, one guitar at a time.
