Los Angeles indie powerhouse Lord Huron find themselves running the same roads The Boss was leaving tire marks on with a Graceland grin on their faces. Don't be mistaken, they are paving their own path on this track while making nods to greats. An acoustic guitar keeps the back beat with a variety of driving drums and claps throughout. Soaring atmospheres of guitars and horns ebb and flow beginning to end. This Americana outfit is led by Michigan native Ben Schneider. "Not Dead Yet" is a self loathing anthem where Schneider belts,
"You got holes in your clothes
And booze on your breath
You look like hell
And you smell like death"
Schneider is being his own worst critic as he stares at himself in the mirror. Rumors might be going around he is not doing to well. He sings,
"I've been out way too long
Heading right for the edge
If she asks about me
Tell her I'm not dead yet"
If he smells like death it might be only a matter of time 'til he is actually dead. It is okay though because the song is just so fun that you forget what it is actually about.
