The Founder Collection is Santa Cruz's limited run of its classic models in their standard specs, made for the company's 50th anniversary. We have the D dreadnought and the OMG, both with Sitka spruce tops, Indian rosewood back and sides, ivoroid binding and nickel Waverly tuners, and each one comes in a Santa Cruz case.

The two Founder models we carry share their woods and hardware but play differently, so the choice comes down to how you play. The Santa Cruz D has tapered Sitka bracing, a round neck, a 1-11/16 inch nut and mid-tension strings, which is the setup a flatpicker or a hard strummer usually reaches for. The Santa Cruz OMG has scalloped bracing, a V-shaped neck with a volute, a wider 1-3/4 inch nut that gives your fretting hand more room between strings, and low-tension strings, along with herringbone trim around the soundhole and top and a zipper backstrip.

Both have a mahogany neck, an ebony fingerboard and bridge, a 25.375 inch scale and a clear finish, buffed on the body and matte on the neck. If you'd rather have German spruce and a satin finish, look at the Santa Cruz 1976 Series, or go back to all of our Santa Cruz guitars.

Should I choose the Founder D or the Founder OMG?

If you flatpick or strum hard, the D's mid-tension strings, round neck and 1-11/16 inch nut suit that. If you play more fingerstyle, the OMG's 1-3/4 inch nut, V-shaped neck and low-tension strings give your fingers more room and a lighter feel.

Does a Founder Collection guitar come with a case?
