Description
The Eastman MD315 carries a hand-carved solid spruce top over solid maple back and sides in a traditional F-style body, construction you'd normally find on mandolins costing twice as much. Spruce delivers the top-end clarity and articulation a mandolin needs to cut through a band mix, while the maple back and sides tighten the low end and add the percussive chop bluegrass players chase. This is the mandolin for pickers who've outgrown a laminate A-style instrument and want real carved-top dynamics for stage and jam sessions.
Tremolo passages ring clean instead of blurring together, and the chop chord snaps with the attack bluegrass rhythm sections demand. The satin-finished neck and 12" radius ebony fingerboard let the hand move fast through long sets, while the adjustable ebony bridge and cast aluminum tailpiece hold tuning steady under aggressive picking.
Ivoroid binding and pearl dot inlays dress up the F-style scroll without adding weight, and the Proline tuners keep every string locked in. It ships with D'Addario XT Phosphor Bronze strings and a padded gig bag, ready for a Saturday night bluegrass jam or a quieter singer-songwriter set alike.
