Description
The MD815PGE-HB pairs a solid Adirondack spruce top with highly flamed solid maple back and sides in a full F-style, F-hole body, aimed at the bluegrass picker who needs a mandolin that holds its own in a circle of guitars, banjos, and basses. The carved scroll isn't just for looks — it balances the mandolin against a standing player's body, and the ebony fingerboard and bridge keep note definition sharp string to string.
Adirondack spruce is the same top wood pre-war luthiers reached for, and it gives this mandolin that same bright, percussive chop that cuts through a mix of guitars and banjos instead of disappearing into it. Flamed maple back and sides push the midrange forward and add shimmer to tremolo passages, so whether you're trading breaks or holding down rhythm on the offbeat, this mandolin sits right where it needs to in the ensemble.
This one comes with a K&K DuoTone pickup already installed, so plugging into a PA for a festival set or a small stage takes nothing more than a cable. Nickel Gotoh tuners hold pitch through aggressive chop rhythm, and the honeyburst gloss finish over ivoroid binding rounds out a mandolin that can hold up on stage night after night.
