Description
The Octolindo F Model Artist features the same carved Swiss Moon spruce top, F-holes and custom Cumberland Acoustics bridge as the F Model Deluxe, with a natural gloss nitrocellulose finish that lets the spruce show. It is an octave mandolin tuned GDAE, one octave below a mandolin, in a guitar-shaped body about the size of a parlor guitar, so it sits easily on your lap.
David Benedict's review of the F Model Deluxe this month is the best guide to how this carved-top design plays. Next to KR's flat-top S Model, he heard a clearer, more focused note that cuts through and sounds more like a mandolin, and the slim neck, 1.38-inch nut and 21.5-inch scale let him keep his three-finger mandolin fingerings. Many octaves run a 22- to 24-inch scale, so that shorter reach is a real difference if you are moving over from mandolin.
The strings anchor to a nickel-plated brass KR Strings tailpiece over a radiused ebony fingerboard. We have #2026 in stock, and it comes with both a deluxe hardshell case and a deluxe gig bag. It is the Octolindo for a mandolin player who wants the carved-top F Model sound and prefers a natural top to a sunburst.
