Description

The Martin 00-21 Gram Parsons is a limited edition 00 12-fret modeled on the 1963 00-21 that the country-rock pioneer played, serial number 187538. Martin is building only 80 of them, and each carries an embossed paper label with a pre-printed Gram Parsons signature, numbered in sequence. The top is old growth Sitka spruce treated with Martin's Vintage Tone System and finished in gloss with an aging toner, and the details are matched to Gram's own guitar.

East Indian rosewood back and sides give it a rich, full low end and shimmering trebles, and the Golden Era scalloped X-bracing in VTS Adirondack spruce at 1/4 inch keeps the response open and quick. The 12-fret body puts the bridge closer to the center of the lower bout for a warm, round voice with plenty of sustain. The genuine mahogany neck has a 00-21 1963 Gram Parsons carve with a standard taper and satin finish, the 24.9 inch scale keeps the tension relaxed, and the 1 7/8 inch bone nut gives your fretting hand extra room for fingerstyle playing.

The appointments are period correct, with a Style 28 multi-stripe rosette and back strip, mother of pearl Style 28 fingerboard inlays on East Indian rosewood, a standard belly rosewood bridge with bone pins and abalone dots, and faux tortoise binding and pickguard. A slotted headstock with 1960s rounded corners holds nickel Golden Age side-mount tuners. It has no electronics, it has been Plek'd at the factory, and it ships in a hardshell case. This is a guitar for players and collectors who want a piece of country-rock history that sounds as good as it looks.
