The Taylor 114ce delivers the balanced, all-purpose voice that makes the Grand Auditorium body Taylor's best-selling shape, built from a solid torrefied spruce top over layered sapele back and sides. The torrefaction process pre-ages the top at the cellular level, driving out moisture so the guitar opens up with the woody, broken-in warmth of an instrument years into its life instead of one fresh off the bench. Taylor's C-Class bracing reinforces that top with a lighter, more efficient brace pattern than older X-bracing designs, adding low-end depth and sustain without sacrificing the clarity the Grand Auditorium is known for.

Played hard, the 114ce responds with a punchy midrange and a controlled low end — sapele behaves similarly to mahogany but with a touch more punch on top, which keeps strummed chords from turning muddy in the mix. Fingerstyle players get clean note separation across the neck, while flatpickers and rhythm players get enough headroom to dig in without the top compressing.
