This is a deposit-only preorder for the next Taylor BBT Big Baby Acoustic we bring in — not a specific instrument currently in stock. The photos above are Taylor's own manufacturer photos of this model, not the exact guitar you will receive. Once your instrument arrives, our in-house tech completes the full 23-point inspection and Trent photographs your actual unit before it ships, and we'll confirm everything with you at that point.

The Big Baby Taylor trades a full-size dreadnought's low end for portability, built as a 15/16-scale travel companion for practice sessions, backup duty on the road, and the gigs where a full-size guitar doesn't need to make the trip. It isn't sized or braced to replace a stage dreadnought — the smaller Big Baby body and X-bracing keep it lighter and easier to carry than they are loud, which is exactly the trade a travel guitar is supposed to make.

A solid torrefied spruce top gives the BBT a head start most instruments its size don't get: the heat-treating process drives moisture out of the wood fibers before the guitar is even built, so the top responds with an open, already-broken-in voice instead of the stiffer, brighter edge new spruce usually needs months of playing to shake off. Layered walnut back and sides add a warm midrange with a touch more brightness than mahogany, keeping fingerpicked patterns and simple strumming clear without ever turning boxy at this body size.

Appointments stay simple and built to last: a matte finish front and back, a tortoise pickguard, black hardware, and a bolt-on neck joint that keeps any future setup work straightforward rather than a specialty repair. There's no onboard electronics — this is a guitar meant to be played unplugged, at low volume, wherever the music happens to be. For a first guitar, a reliable backup, or a travel instrument that earns its spot in the car or the overhead bin, the BBT covers that role without pretending to be a full-size dreadnought.
