The Taylor 224ce-K DLX builds the 200 Series Grand Auditorium entirely from Hawaiian koa — a solid koa top over layered koa back and sides — held together with C-Class bracing. Koa is denser and less immediately resonant than spruce, and C-Class bracing is built to compensate, pushing projection and midrange forward instead of letting an all-koa build sound closed-in out of the case.

A solid koa top opens up the more it gets played, moving from a tighter, more compressed voice when new toward a warmer, more complex midrange over time — a known trait of koa that spruce-topped guitars don't share. Fingerpickers get a woody, almost mahogany-like punch with added top-end sparkle, and strummers get a focused midrange that cuts through a mix without the scooped low end a rosewood body would add.
