Description

The Taylor GS Mini-e Koa brings Taylor's travel-scale body into all-koa territory, with a solid Hawaiian koa top over layered koa back and sides. It shares the same X-Bracing pattern as the rest of the GS Mini family rather than the V-Class bracing on Taylor's full-size guitars — this line is voiced as its own thing, not a shrunken flagship.

Koa tightens up as it ages, and even fresh off the bench it offers a compressed, midrange-forward character with less low-end sprawl than mahogany or spruce — good for fingerstyle definition and for cutting through in a small-group singer-songwriter setting. It makes an excellent travel or backup guitar and a fine practice-room instrument, but at this body size it doesn't substitute for a full-size guitar on a stage that needs real low-end push.

Appointments match the rest of the GS Mini line — a matte-finished neo-tropical mahogany neck, West African Crelicam ebony fingerboard and bridge, faux pearl 4mm dot inlays, black hardware — with no pickguard, since the ES-B electronics take center stage here instead. The ES-B system adds an onboard preamp and a built-in digital tuner, so the GS Mini-e Koa plugs straight into a PA or interface without an add-on soundhole pickup. At $999, the GS Mini-e Koa sits just under the $1,000 line for our Dread-Not Guarantee, so it ships under our standard policy with a 14-day evaluation period. For a player who wants a genuine koa Taylor with plug-and-play electronics in a travel-friendly body, the GS Mini-e Koa is the clear step up from the entry GS Mini models.

The Acoustic Shoppe is an Authorized Taylor Premier Dealer and Gold Label Advantage Dealer. Every instrument ships after a full 23-point professional inspection by our in-house repair tech. As a twelve-time consecutive NAMM Top 100 Dealer, we handle warranty concerns directly on your behalf.
