Description

The Taylor Trey Hensley Gold Label 510e takes the deep-body dreadnought format and builds it around Trey Hensley's flatpicking attack — dig-in rhythm, articulate leads, and enough headroom to hang with a full bluegrass band. A solid Sitka spruce top pairs with solid neo-tropical mahogany back and sides, giving the guitar a drier, more focused low end than a typical rosewood dread while still pushing serious volume.

Taylor's fanned V-Class bracing with a Tonal Rout is doing a lot of the work here — it tightens up the sustain and keeps the mahogany from getting boomy, so single-note runs stay clear even when you're flatpicking hard. Chords bloom without smearing, and the mahogany's midrange punch means the guitar sits forward in a mix instead of getting buried the way some dreadnoughts do. It's built for bluegrass and flatpicking first, but it strums and fingerpicks just as confidently for a singer-songwriter set.

Appointments match the tone: West African ebony on the fingerboard, headstock veneer, and truss rod cover, with cream crest inlays and a cream/black rosette tying the Antique Blonde gloss top together. An LR Baggs Anthem SL Tru-Mic pickup system covers stage and studio work, blending an internal microphone with an under-saddle pickup so the plugged-in tone keeps the guitar's real acoustic character instead of a pickup-only sound. It ships in a Taylor Deluxe hardshell case under our Dread-Not Guarantee — a 30-day in-home trial and a full year to trade it in for 90% credit toward anything else in the store, backed by a free humidity monitoring kit. For flatpickers who want a dreadnought with real bluegrass pedigree and the tone to back it up, this is the one.
