This 1941 Martin R-17 is a rare piece of acoustic guitar history—a fully hollow, all-mahogany archtop that brings a warm, woody tone and vintage charm you just can't replicate. Built during Martin’s lesser-known archtop era, the R-17 was their answer to the jazz and swing market of the day, but with a distinctly Martin feel and tone. The carved, arched solid mahogany top paired with arched back and sides gives it a mellow voice with a dry midrange and enough punch for comping rhythm or backing up a soloist. The 16" non-cutaway body is classic in shape and size, and the parallel tone bar bracing gives it that tight, focused projection that early archtops are known for. It features a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and floating bridge, original open-gear Grover tuners, a trapeze tailpiece, and a tortoise-style pickguard that’s still intact. The rounded C-shape neck plays comfortably and feels right at home for traditional jazz voicings or fingerstyle blues. This one’s in good condition for its age, with expected wear and patina but nothing that distracts from its playability or tone. A great option for players or collectors looking for something truly unique from the Golden Era of American guitar building.

*This instrument is in Good Condition, with original items still intact.*
