The 2026 NAMM Model Martin GPC-13E Modern is built for players who want one guitar that does a lot of things well. John would say this body shape sits right in the sweet spot. It feels comfortable like a smaller guitar, but it still has the push and presence you expect from a stage instrument. The Grand Performance cutaway gives easy access up the neck, which makes it a great choice for modern players who move beyond first position and want the whole fingerboard to feel open.

A solid spruce top keeps the response clear and lively, while the koa fine veneer back and sides add warmth and visual character without getting in the way of the fundamentals. The sound stays balanced across the strings, with a supportive low end, focused mids, and a top end that cuts without being harsh. Scalloped X bracing lets the top move freely, so the guitar reacts quickly whether you are playing gently with your fingers or driving it with a flatpick.
